Getting to know you…part 2 – Killerton and A La Ronde

So, as I mentioned in yesterday’s post, we’re now living in Devon and getting to know and love our new surroundings.

Today’s post is a gallery of our visit to Killerton and A La Ronde where we found ourselves surrounded by beauty inside the houses and in the glorious countryside. Both properties are National Trust and although both houses are remarkable, they are¬†also intimate and friendly homes.

The photos are mainly close ups of the gorgeous flowers at Killerton as I use them for inspiration for my embroidery.

Enjoy…

The main entrance at Killerton – makes quite an impact doesn’t it?

Stokes’ Aster. This is utterly beautiful, genuinely can’t believe how stunning and delicate this is.

The planting is so stunning. Then there are the views…

Fabulous fashion collection on the upper floor at Killerton is worth a visit in itself. These creations were the hard work of talented students from Exeter College

Now for a few of A La Ronde – we didn’t take as many photos here as we were pretty captivated by the house and moved from room to room in a bit of a trance! Amazing collections in the house and I need to do some more research on Jane and Mary Parminter, the spinster cousins who brought back all these treasures from their travels.

As always, I was drawn towards the embroideries and textiles!

The bedroom – one of my favourite rooms – utterly charming.

They’re both houses that I know we’ll visit again and again.
