Phew – it’s hot! Summer has finally arrived! The sunshine seems to change everything doesn’t it? People are out strolling through the town, pubs are buzzing, blankets are out on the grass and the beach is busy! I’m going to be honest with you – it’s actually a little too hot for me – I’m not one of those people who manages to look cool and neat in the heat, rather I’m the one who’s all hot and sweaty.
The appearance of the sun was perfectly timed as my Mother came to visit for a couple of weeks. It was so lovely to welcome her here to our new home and wonderful to be able to show her the sights in the warmth – apart from a rather breezy visit to Dartmoor. We went to the beach, the Moor, sunned ourselves and obviously fitted in a spot of shopping! We have both just celebrated our birthdays – only a week apart. Our sons cooked my husband and I a celebration anniversary dinner and this was our menu..
Yes we got married on my birthday – how could he possibly forget the date?!
I’m also really pleased that my garden is beginning to show a bit of colour as the new young shrubs start to flower. As it’s a brand new garden, I know I need to be patient but I’m thrilled to report that I have bees in the garden. Happy bunny.
And what am I doing in this heatwave? Well obviously finishing a pure wool crochet blanket! #madness It’s from a pattern by Attic24 – I’ll show you properly when I’ve finished the border.
Here’s a taste of my week – I hope you are enjoying your week wherever you are 🙂
Oh, and we enjoyed a great game of Exploding Kittens – a phenomenal success on Kickstarter and great fun.
